The Receiving of Power
Jesus said that the Holy Spirit was available for all his followers.
In this study we will be looking at what it means
to receive the Spirit and when a person receives
the Spirit and the evidence of receiving the gift
of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament
Moses had wished that we all where Gods prophets and
Joel prophesied that we would be.
In the Old Testament the Spirit came upon only
a few of Gods people to quip them for serves,
now he is available to all Gods Children.
Jesus had an unlimited supply of the Spirit
Jesus did not do any preaching or any mighty work, until:
He was Anointed (filed with the Spirit or Spirit upon Him)
Ye shall receive power, ye shall be witnesses
When the Holy Spirit comes he comes to empower
you to be an efficient witness for Jesus.
The promise of the Spirit is to you and them that are afar off.
What role did the Holy Spirit play in the early Church
While Peter and John were on trial for their faith,
the Spirit empowered Peter to preach.
The Holy Spirit called Paul and Barnabas to do God's work.
On there journey the Holy Spirit guided them.
The believers received the Spirit
The Samaritan believers received the Spirit.
Paul discovered a small group of believers, perceiving
that something was missing in them.
He asked them: Have ye received the Holy
Ghost since ye believed?
Ever since the days of Joel, Gods people
have looked for the pouring out of Gods Spirit
The Book of Acts shows the fulfillment of this.
There is a difference between the Born Again
Experience and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
These are two different experiences.
What is the sign of being filled with the Spirit
Being filled with the Spirit, one magnifies God, speak of his wonderful works.
Being filled with the Spirit gives one power:
Boldness to speck the word,
To be a witnesses for Jesus.
What is Tongues?
The word tongues is simply a word that means a foreign language
The Holy Spirit, gives one the ability to speck in a foreign language:
With out learning it,
We need to edify the church
1 Corinthians 14
In the church tongues needs to be Interpreted
to be of any benefit to the other believer.
Speaking in tongues is mainly to assist you in
you personal worship of the Father and in prayer.
To receive the Holy Spirit Baptism
we must be:
Born Again, Have Faith to receive, Ask Jesus to
baptize you in the Spirit, Receive the infilling,
Release your prayer language.
Jesus said that the Holy Spirit was available for His followers.
All they need to do is ask the Father.
