Our English word Bible comes from the Greek words biblos
(Mat 1:1 KJV) The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

Ancient books were written upon the papyrus reed or
biblus, and from this custom came the Greek name biblos,
which finally came to be applied to the sacred books.
The Old Testament deals with the record of the calling and history of the Jewish nation.
The New Testament deals with the redemption of man kind,
made possible by the Jesus Christ, the calling of all
mankind to be children of God.
In the biblos, the bible God reveals Himself to all people in general.
The Bible is also called “The Scripture”
(John 7:38 KJV) He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

writers of the Scriptures wrote under the direct influence
of the Spirit of God.

The bible was written over a period of 1500 years, written by 40 different authors.
Even though the bible was written by men, the
ultimate author was God. Holy men of old wrote what God
said to them, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

The instructions in the Bible will help you to become a better Christian, as you learn from his word how he wants you to live your life not being "conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind".
Romans 12:1,2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
The more you learn about God and what He wants for you, the easier it is to know His will and direction for your life.
This understanding only comes from time spent in his word. It doesn't happen overnight.
Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalms 1:1,2 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
It is my prayer that we all come into the unity of the faith, being perfectly joined together by the pure word of God, may grow up in Christ unto a perfect man.
