Occurrences 602 times in the New Testament

 If shows a condition and a result. If one thing happens, another thing will happen.

If is attached to the condition.

Conditional Clauses - IF -

 The first class Ei  =  Since or assumed to be true, Reality

{Simple Condition}

   IF (and it is true or supposed to be true)

 Act 11:17  ForasmuchG1487 then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?

 The Second class Ei  = False, Unreality

{Contrary-to-Fact Condition}

   IF (and it is not true)

 Mat 23:30  And say, IfG1487 we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

    The Third class Ean  =  Maybe, possibility

{Future More Probable Condition}

{Present General Condition}

    IF (maybe it is and maybe it is not)

In the third class the statement has the ability to become  a reality, only when the conditions stated are met. Therefore, Ean is used.

Joh 8:51  Verily, verily, I say unto you, IfG1437 a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.

 1Jn 1:7  But ifG1437 we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Col 4:10  Aristarchus my fellowprisoner saluteth you, and Marcus, sister's son to Barnabas, (touching whom ye received commandments: ifG1437 he come unto you, receive him;)

    The fourth class Ei  =  Improbable,  Wish or Desire

{Less Probable Future Condition}

   IF (but it is not likely)

 'I wish it were true but it is not'

 The first class Ei

 The Second class Ei

 The Third class Ean

 The fourth class Ei

You can see that three out of the four class are the Greek word 1487 Ei and only one of them is 1437 Ean.

Greek  1437   ἐάν   ean   eh-an'

The Third class Ean

Always means IF a condition or stipulation

   If one thing happens, another thing will happen.
The statement in the sentence  becomes a reality only when the conditions stated are met.

    Don’t get confused about these conditional clauses. Remember that there are only two main Greek words. If you lookup the Greed word, used in the bible verse, it is most likely one of these two words. If it is G1437Ean then it is a conditional statement. If it is G1487Ei then it can have more than one meaning.

    The way it is used in the verse, can give you a clue to its meaning. It cued be making a statement that ought to be true but may not be in your life. Then the cause and effect would have the same outcome as a condition statement. Because you are not doing what you are suppose to be doing. So then you’re having the wrong effects, reaping the condition of your actions.

    If then, this is the cases? You need to change what you are doing. That is repent, turn from what you are doing. “God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”
Be not deceived.

Deu 11:16  Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;

Gal 6:7, 8  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Eph 5:1-7  Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

Joh 8:31, 32  Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, IfG1437 ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Joh 8:34 – 36  Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. IfG1437 the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Rom 6:12  Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Rom 6:16  Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Rom 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the giftG5486 {charisma} of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
