WHAT IS SIN?
*
The Hebrew and Greek words translated
“transgression” mean “the willful breaking of
religious or moral law; any revolt or violations
against God.”
Desires are longings, hopes and appetites.
*
Satan uses your desires to tempt you, desires in them-self are not evil. It is the desire that becomes a king in you and goes beyond Christ. We all have desires a longing or hope for some thing. There are different kinds of appetites, some are, to eat, to drink, to be needed, for clothing, and for sex. All these are natural and needed appetites. These desires in their proper place are good, but you take them out of their place and they become sin.
*
(2 Cor 10:5 KJV) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
I have heard it said that “Sin comes first as a thought, all temptation is linked to your thoughts” there is some great truth in that, thoughts do influences our desires. Our thoughts are influenced by our senses, you taste something, you see something, or fell something and thoughts arise to entice your desires. Satan sends thoughts to you as fiery darts, to entice you to sin. But do not give place to them by thinking on them. When you think on evil desires, the thought will give birth to sin acting up on the thought.
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God:
*
Prov 7 talks about Keeping God's Word and his commandments, and how they will keep you from the strange woman, a woman with the attire of an harlot. By going threw this proverb and replacing the word woman to sin, you can get a good insight to how sin operates. Below is a small sample, I have replaced the pronouns to sin.
*
(Prov 7:25-27
Let
not thine heart decline to her
ways, go not astray in her
paths. For she hath cast down many
wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by
her. Her
house is the way to hell,
going down to the chambers of death.
Let
not thine heart decline to Sins
ways, go not astray in Sins
paths. For Sins
hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men
have been slain by Sins. Sins
house is the way to hell,
going down to the chambers of death.
*
We are warned in Romans chapter 6 not to allow sin to reign in our mortal bodys, Sin is not to exercise power or rule over us. Before we were saved we lived in the flesh were servants to sin. But now we are saved we are to be servants to righteousness. In Romans chapter 6 and verse 12 it says "Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof."
*
You are not to permit sin to reign in your body it is your responsibility. When you obey your lustful desires you are a slave to Satan. You are supposed to be a bond servant, slave to Christ. In Romans chapter 6 and verse 16 it says "Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?"
*
Jesus said the same thing in John chapter 8 verses 34 and 35 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. And the servant abideth not in the house for ever:"
*
We are not to yield our members as instruments of unrighteousness. We read in Romans chapter 6 and verse 13 "Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God."
*
Who is not to yield or give way to sin?
*
Some say I cant help but sin, we all sin. Yes but we have just see that we are not to yield to sin. If you can't help but sin and you are a believer you have sin dwelling in your members. You are doing what is says in Romans chapter 7 and verse 15 "For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I." This is a battle between your old nature; the flesh, and your new nature; the spirit, spiritual.
*
The problem comes from the fact that you yield to sin instead of the Holy Spirit. When you continually yield to sin, you give it the right to live in your body.We have read in Romans chapter 6 and verse 12, which says "Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof." So now you have this desirer that plague and harass you, this is described in Romans chapter 7 and verse 20 "Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me."
*
Don't worry there is hope!
*
All you have to do is confess the sin to God and repent, turn from the sin. You say it is not that easy! O' in addition you have to put on the new man and make no provision for the flesh, for it say in Ephesians chapter 4 and verse 24 "And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness" and in Romans chapter 13 and verse 14 "But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof."
*
You need to realize you are in a battle for it says in Ephesians chapter 6 verse 12 and 13 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
*
You also need to realize you are not alone the Holy Spirit will help you, for it says in John chapter 14 and verse 16 it says "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;" and in Romans chapter 8 and verse 13b "... if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live" The Holy Spirit will help you mortify the the deeds of your body.
*You need to realize that after you confess the sin to God and turn from the sin, Satan will come back to tempt you, he will look for another opportunity, for it says in Luke capter 4 and verse 13 after Satan tempted Jesus that "And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season." and in Matthew chapter 12 and verses 43 and 44 in the NLT that "When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, seeking rest but finding none. Then it says, 'I will return to the person I came from."
You say I dint have an evil spirit!
*
O' but you did to one degree or another, when a person gives into their evil desires and have sin dwelling in their members, what do you thank is dwelling there? It is a unclean spirit, you are being demonized.
Demonized is to subject to the influence of demons. We read in Matthew chapter 15 that a woman came to Jesus her daughter was grievously vexed {demonized} by a devil and Jesus made her whole, the word whole is the same word used in Acts 10:38 as healing.
**You can see that Jesus healed all.
All were oppressed of the devil or were under the power of the devil.
Let's look at this a little deeper. We see in Luke that Jesus rebuked James and John saying "Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of" and Jesus also rebuked Peter calling him Satan.
So we can see that Satan demonized these disciples, fiery darts came at them. What spirit are you yielding to? We also see in Luke 22:3 that Satan enters into Judas to betray Jesus.
We are not saying the old saying "The Devil Made Me Do It" for Satan can not make you do any thing. You have to yield to him and his evil spirits. Remember we are tempted when we are drawn away of our own lust. Jesus said in Mark 7:15 and 20-23 that nothing from without can defile you. You have to have sin in your members, "for from within, out of the heart of man, proceed" all kinds of sins. Jesus said that Satan had nothing in him.
*It does not matter what kind of lust you have in you if you have lust in you Satan and his demons will come after you to entice you to sin. Do not give him something to work with.
*So we can see that we are not to allow sin to reign in us. If you are struggling with sin dwelling in you confess it and repent turn to God and make no provision for the flesh. You need to quote the Word of God like Jesus did in Luke chapter 4 and resist the spirit when he comes back. If you are overcome and do the sin again confess the sin to God again and continue to resist the spirit and keep yourself from any place that gives place to the devil. In Galatians chapter 6 and verves 1 it tells us that those that are spiritual are to help those that are over taken in sin, so if you need help seek out some one to help you.
*
Sin is a killer it has only one adjective, to separate you from God. It does this by hardening your heart and defiling your conscience. You need to keep you mind and thoughts pure before God, and if you are overtaken in a fault you need to repent. Jesus is your advocate with the Father, He is the atoning sacrifice for your sins. In 1 Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We need to walk in the Spirit in the Word of God and hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end.
**
(Heb 3:12 - 14
Steadfast means not to give into.
**
We need to endure, to stand firm in temptation, do not give in to it. In some temptations we are to flee, 1 Corinthians 10:14 "wherefore, my dearly bloved, flee from idolatry" and in 2 Timothy 2:22 "Flee aslo youthful lusts:" and other times we need to resist, cast them down.
* *Then we will be blessed and receive the crown of life.
