Tell us, when shall these things be?

The disciples asked Jesus when will the temple be destroyed and your coming? Jesus explains to them the sequence of events. That there are some thinks that have to happen first, when you see these things happen you know it is just around the corner, in the same manner that you can see spring is come, there are signs.

What shall be the sign of the coming?

The end of the World?

(Mat 24:1-3 KJV)

v.1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to show him the buildings of the temple.

v.2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

v.3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

Study tip:

The word then = that time or another time

So when we see the word then, we need to look at the passages to see where in the passage it goes.

It is like watching a TV program, you may see four scene’s.

1) You see some people watching there instruments in a control room of a earthquake happening.

2) Then some people are running from the earthquake that is destroying every thing in its path,

3) Then there a highway full of cars falling apart from the earthquake

4) You see a news reporter, reporting the after mass of the earthquake that just hit the city, the reporter tells you that the earthquake was a .5 quake that lasted for 5 minute.

Seen 1, 2, and 3 all take 5 minute each, you just watched 15 minute of the earthquake on TV,

How long was the earthquake?

When you read a story or see a TV program, you have events one after another, even though they my be happening at the same time, that is what we have in the Bible also.

(Mat 24:4 KJV) And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

(Mat 24:5 KJV) For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many

They are not saying that they are Jesus the son of God, they are coming in his name saying they are anointed.

The word Christ is anointed, the anointed one, it is used to refer to Jesus as the Messiah, the anointed one.

(Acts 4:7 KJV)  And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?

(Acts 5:40 KJV ) And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

(1 John 2:26-27, 4:1 KJV )

v.26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.

v.27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

v.1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Wars and rumors of wars

(Mat 24:6-7 KJV)

v.6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

v.7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

(Mat 24:8 KJV)  All these are the beginning of sorrows.

All these things are just the beginning of sorrows; they are not the sign of the end of the world that is the end of the age.

1)
False prophets
2)
Wars
3) Famines
4) Pestilences
5) Earthquakes

The beginning of sorrows birth pains.

As a woman having a baby, childbirth is the Strong’s meaning of beginning of sorrows. As the day approaches for the birth the birth pains increase in frequency and intensity. Jesus was saying that the closer we get to the time of the end of the age his return, the more frequent and intense they will become. There will be more false prophets, wars, famine, pestilence, and earthquakes they will increase in frequency and intensity.

Before all these

Deliver you up to be afflicted

(Mat 24:9 KJV) Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

(Luke 21:12 KJV) But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.

The last days

Many be Offended and Shall Wax Cold

(Mat 24:10-13 KJV)

v.10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

Mat 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

Mat 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

Mat 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

(2 Tim 3:1 KJV)  This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

(2 Th 2:1-3 KJV)

v.1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

v.2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

v.3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

(1 John 2:18 KJV) Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

Iniquity shall abound Perilous times shall come
Many be Offended
Shall Wax Cold
A falling away first
False prophets Man of sin be revealed

Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

The Abomination of Desolation

(Mat 24:15 KJV) When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

Spoken of by Daniel the prophet

(Dan 9:26-27 KJV)

v.26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

v.27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: "OR 7 YEARS" and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

(2 Th 2:1-4 KJV)

v.1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

v.2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

v.3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

v.4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

Jesus said that when ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, that we should understand, something.

Here in these passage's we see the abomination of desolation that Jesus spoke of. In the book of Daniel we see that, the prince that shall come comes after Messiah be cut off, 1 John 2:18 refers to him as the Antichrist.

(1 John 2:18 KJV)   Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that Antichrist shall come, even now are there many Antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

We also see in the book of Daniel, that the abomination of desolation happens in the midst of the week. The word week is shabua, and literally means "sevens", standing for a 7 year period of time.

In Daniel 9:24-27 there is 490 years spoke of

(Dan 9:24 KJV) Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

We refer to the 7 years as the Tribulation, or the Great Tribulation, allow the first 3 ½ years are a time of peace.

(1 Th 5:3 KJV) For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

(Mat 24:16 KJV) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

So we see that Jesus said when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet
