God has promised
special blessings to those that overcome. In this
study we will look at what we are to overcome and what
rewards we receive or not receive.
(1 John 5:4 - 5 KJV) For
whatsoever is born of God
overcometh the world: and this is the victory
that overcometh the world, even
our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world,
but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of
God?

God's Word teaches that one must
overcome in order to get to heaven
(Rom 12:21 KJV) Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
Who are we to
overcome? The world that is under
Satan's power.
How
are we to overcome? By belief
in the Lord Jesus Christ, The Holy Spirit dwelling
within us and the Word of God abiding in us.
(2 Pet 2:19 - 21 KJV) While
they promise them liberty, they themselves are the
servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome,
of the same is he brought in bondage. For if after they have escaped the
pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the
Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are
again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is
worse with them than the beginning. For
it had been better for them not to have known the way of
righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn
from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
(Jud
1:5-7
KJV) I will therefore put you in remembrance,
though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of
the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them
that believed not.
And the angels
which kept not their first estate, but left
their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting
chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great
day.
Even as Sodom
and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner,
giving themselves over to fornication, and going after
strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering
the vengeance of eternal fire.
(Jude 1:24 KJV) Now
unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to
present you faultless before the presence of his glory
with exceeding joy,
(Mat 10:22 KJV) And ye
shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he
that endureth to the end shall be saved.
(Mat 24:13 KJV) But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
(Rom 6:22 - 23 KJV) But
now being made free from sin, and become servants to
God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end
everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of
God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our
Lord.
(Heb 3:14 KJV) For we
are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the
beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
(1 Pet 4:18 KJV) And if
the righteous
scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and
the sinner appear?
(Rom 8:1 KJV) There is
therefore now no condemnation to them which are in
Christ Jesus, who
walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
(Rom 8:13 KJV) For if
ye live after
the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit
do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
(Rom 11:21 - 24 KJV) For
if God spared not the natural branches, take heed
lest he also spare not thee. Behold therefore the
goodness and severity of God: on them which fell,
severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his
goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
And they also, if they abide not still in
unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft
them in again. For if thou wert cut out of the
olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert grafted
contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more
shall these, which be the natural branches, be grafted
into their own olive tree?
(Rom 13:4 KJV) For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
(1 Cor 5:11 KJV) But
now I have written unto you not to keep company, if
any man that is
called a brother be a fornicator,
or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard,
or an extortioner; with
such an one no not to eat.
(1 Cor 6:9 – 11 KJV) Know
ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the
We
need not to be deceived and think that there is not a
sin or sins that can separate us from God. We have been
warned by God that once we are saved that we need to be
careful, take heed, and examine ourselves, guard our
salves that we do not fall back into unbelief and sin.
If you go back into unbelief, willful sin, and refuse to
do the word of God, His will, you will perish in your
sin, unless you repent.
(Gal 2:17 - 18KJV)
But if, while we seek to be justified by
Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ
the minister of sin? God forbid. For if I
build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a
transgressor.
(Gal 5:18 KJV) But if
ye be led
of the Spirit, ye are not under the
law.
(Gal 5:25 KJV) If
we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
(
(1 Th 3:8 KJV) For now
we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord.
(2 Tim 2:5 KJV) And if
a man also strive
for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive
lawfully.
(2 Tim 2:12 KJV) If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
(2 Tim 2:13 KJV) If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
(Heb
3:6 KJV) But Christ as a son over his own
house; whose house
are we, if we hold fast the
confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto
the end.
(Heb 3:14 KJV) For we
are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning
of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
(Heb 6:4 - 10 KJV) For
it is impossible
for those who were once
enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift,
and were made partakers of
the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the goodword of God,
and the powers of the
world to come, If they shall fall away,
to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify
to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an
open shame. For the earth which drinketh in the rain
that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet
for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from
God: But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and
is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned. But,
beloved, we are persuaded better
things of you, and things that accompany salvation,
though we thus speak. For God is not unrighteous to
forget your work and labour of love, which ye have
showed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to
the saints, and do minister.
(Heb 10:26 KJV) For if we sin wilfully after that we
have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no
more sacrifice for sins,
(Heb 10:38 KJV) Now
the just shall live by faith: but if any
man draw back,
my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
(Heb 12:7 - 8 KJV) If
ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons;
for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if
ye be without chastisement, whereof all are
partakers, then
are ye bastards, and not sons.
(Heb 12:25 KJV) See
that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they
escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much
more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him
that speaketh from heaven:
(James 2:17 KJV) Even
so faith, if it hath not works, is dead,
being alone.
(James 5:19 – 20 KJV) Brethren,
if any of you do err from the truth, and one
convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the
sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from
death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
(1 Pet 1:17 KJV) And if
ye call on the
Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to
every man's work, pass the time of your
sojourning here in fear:
(1 Pet 4:17 – 18 KJV) For
the time is come that judgment must begin at the house
of God: and if it first begin at us, what
shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
And if the righteous scarcely be saved,
where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
(2 Pet 1:10 KJV) Wherefore
the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election
sure: for if ye do these things,
ye shall never
fall:
2 Pet 2:4 For
if God spared not the angels that sinned, . . .
2 Pet 2:13 And shall receive the
reward of unrighteousness,
(2 Pet 2:20 KJV) For if
after they have escaped the pollutions of the world
through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome,
the latter end
is worse with them than the beginning.
(1 John 2:24 – 26 KJV) Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have
heard from the beginning. If that which ye have
heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall
continue in the Son, and in the Father. And this is the
promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. These
things have I written unto you concerning them that
seduce you.
(Rev 22:18 KJV) For I
testify unto every man that heareth the words of the
prophecy of this book, If any man shall
add unto these things, God shall add
unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
(Rev 22:19 KJV) And if
any man shall take away from the words of the book
of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of
life, and out of the holy city, and from
the things which are written in this book.
(Luke 9:62 KJV) And Jesus
said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and
looking back, is fit for the
(Mat 7:21 KJV) Not
every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter
into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will
of my Father which is in heaven.
(1 John 5:16 – 17 KJV) If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
(1 Tim 4:1 KJV)
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter
times some shall depart from the
faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and
doctrines of devils;
(1 Tim 4:16 KJV) Take heed unto thyself, and unto the
doctrine; continue
in them: for in
doing this thou
shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
(2 Pet 3:17 KJV)
Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things
before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the
error of the wicked, fall from your own
stedfastness.
(2 Tim 4:3 KJV)
For the time will come when
they will not endure sound doctrine; but after
their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers,
having itching
ears;
(2 Tim 4:4 KJV) And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
(Ezek 18:21 – 32 KJV)
( 32 )
But if the wicked
will turn from all his sins that he hath
committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is
lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not
die. ( 22 ) All his transgressions that he hath
committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his
righteousness that he hath done he shall live. ( 23 )
Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?
saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his
ways, and live? ( 24 ) But when the righteous turneth away from
his righteousness, and committeth iniquity,
and doeth according to all the abominations that the
wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness
that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass
that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath
sinned, in them
shall he die. ( 25 ) Yet ye say,
The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of
God gives us a warning that
a person can turn from righteousness to iniquity,
the same way the wicked can turn to righteousness. God
said are ways are not equal if we clam that "once
saved, always saved" and do not acknowledge that a
person can indeed turn from and forsake the Lord and
perish.
(Ezek 33:17 - 20 KJV) Yet
the children of thy people say, The way of the Lord is not equal:
but as for them, their way is not equal. (18)
When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and
committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby. (19)
But if the wicked
turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful
and right, he shall live thereby. (20) Yet ye say, The way
of the Lord is not equal. O ye house of
I will
judge you every one after his ways
Be not deceived
(Deu 11:16 KJV) Take
heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived,
and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;
(Luke 21:8 KJV) And he
said, Take heed that ye be not
deceived: for many shall come in my name,
saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth
near: go ye not therefore after them.
(1 Cor 6:9 - 10 KJV) Know ye not that the
unrighteous shall not inherit the
(1 Cor 15:33 - 34 KJV)
Be not deceived: evil communications
corrupt good manners. Awake to
righteousness, and
sin
not; for some have not the knowledge of
God: I speak this to your shame.
(Gal 6:7 - 8 KJV) Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
God and
His Word will not be mocked. God will not put up
with some of His own falling into some of these
sins and then thinking that He will turn a blind
eye to their sins. They are condoning their
sinful activities thinking that the Blood of Jesus will
keep them covered till the day they die.
(Mat 7:13 – 14 KJV)
Enter ye in at the strait
gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that
leadeth to
destruction, and many
there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the
gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto
life, and few there be that find it.
1 Jn. 2:3-5 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
You may say
you have to do nothing, the Bible says that if you don't
keep the commandments, you are a liar. You must be
an over comer. Jesus made promises to those that
overcome. Those that overcome will eat of the tree of
life, will be clothed in white raiment, will have power
over the nations, and will sit with Jesus in his throne.
Jesus said the way to destruction is broad and many go
there in. Be not deceived, for you will know them by
their fruits. So be an over comer and keep on the narrow
way that leadeth unto life.
(1 Cor 10:12 KJV)
Wherefore let him that thinketh he
standeth take heed lest he fall.
