Predestinate

Has God predestined some to salvation and the rest to damnation?  In this study we will look at what or who God has predestined or predetermined before the foundation, the creation of the earth.

 What is predestinate?

What did God foreordain or predetermine?

 1)                 The death of Christ

(Acts 4:28 KJV)  For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.

 2)                 The Hidden Wisdom the Gospel

(1 Cor 2:7 KJV)  But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

3)    Conformity to Christ

(Rom 8:29 KJV)  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.   (30)  Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

 4)                 Adoption    by Jesus Christ,  an  Inheritance

(Eph 1:4 KJV)  According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:  (5)  Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,   (6)  To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.  (7)   In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;  (8)   Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;  (9)    Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:  (10)   That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:   (11)  In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:    (12)  That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.  (13)   In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

(Eph 1:5 NLT)  His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. And this gave him great pleasure.

 What is Gods Will?

(2 Pet 3:9 KJV)  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

(1 Tim 2:4 KJV)  Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

God's will is that all men, that is every person would be saved. If it is God's will that know one perish why did he choose some to  perish?

That all would be saved

 Called    Foreknow    Elect

(Rom 8:28 KJV)  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.  (29)  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.  (30)  Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Jesus said in  (Mat 20:16 KJV)  So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosenElect.

So we see that God Calls many that is cries out loud, he invites them to come to him. But few come, answer the call and become part of the Elect the chosen. God threw his for knowledge knows who is His.

(1 Pet 1:1 KJV)  Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,  (2)  Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

(John 2:24 KJV)  But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, (25)  And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

(John 6:61 KJV)  When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?  (62)  What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?  (63)  It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.  (64)  But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.  (65)  And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.  (66)  From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.  (67)  Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?  (68)  Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

(Rom 8:29 NLT)  For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn, with many brothers and sisters.  (30)  And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And he gave them right standing with himself, and he promised them his glory.

(Eph 1:5 NLT)  His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. And this gave him great pleasure.

(Rom 10:11 KJV)  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

(Rom 10:9 KJV)  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

(Rom 10:10 KJV)  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

(2 Pet 3:9 KJV)  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

(2 Pet 3:9 NLT)  The Lord isn't really being slow about his promise to return, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to perish, so he is giving more time for everyone to repent.

(Mat 12:50 KJV)  For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

(Gal 1:4 KJV)  Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

(1 Tim 2:3 KJV)  For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

(4)  Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.  (5)  For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;  (6)  Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.  (7)  Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

(James 1:18 KJV)  Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

(Rev 22:17 KJV)  And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

(2 Pet 3:17 KJV)  Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

So we can see that God has Chosen us to be Holy. He is not willing that any should perish. That is why God predetermined that He would send his Son {Jesus}, to make away for mankind. God has made the way available to all and He is long suffering not willing that any parishes. God is crying out to all mankind to come to Him and be holy, separate from the world. Those that heed the call and remain faithful are called the elect, that is chosen or selected.
