Resurrection

Christ was raised we will also be raised

The resurrection of Jesus, provided certain hope for the resurrection of believer. Just as Christ rinsed from the dead so shall those that believe in him at His coming.

Rom 6:4,5   Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.  For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

1 Cor 15:53,54   For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.  So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

Mat 12:40  For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

The Lord was in the tomb on Friday before sundown (day #1), all of Saturday (day #2), and the part of Sunday after sundown on Saturday and until the Resurrection occurred (day #3).

1 Cor 15:4  And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Death could not hold Jesus, but by the power of the Holy Spirit, He came forth from the grave.

 RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST

Mat 28:1 - 8    In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
  And, behold, there was
a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:   And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.  And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.   He is not here: for
he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.   And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.   And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.

On the first day of the week; Sunday morning, The Angel of the Lord rolled away the stone from the tomb; it cased a violent earthquake. The angel told the women that Jesus has risen, go tell His disciples and meet Him in Galilee.

Luke 24:13 - 16, 31     And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.  And they talked together of all these things which had happened.  And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.  But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.

And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.

Mar 16:12,13  After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country.   And they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they them.

Jesus appeared to two of the disciples as they were walking down the road They did not recognize Him for He appeared in another form and their eyes holden that they should not know him. In His resurrected body He is able to appear differently.

John 20:19  Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

He had power to disappear and to walk throw wall.

 Eight days later

John 20:26    And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.

The descriptions of Jesus resurrection body is our best source of information about the nature of how our resurrection bodies will be.

Phil 3:20,21    For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:    Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

At the time of Jesus return we will get glorified bodies. Our natal bodies will be changed by the power of God to heavenly bodies like His resurrected body.

1 Cor 15:35 - 44    But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?   Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:    And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:   But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.   All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.   There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.   There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.   So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:   It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:   It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

Our salvation is not yet complete. Glorification is the word we use to denote its final completion of Our salvation. That will take place in connection with the second coming of Christ.

1 Cor 1:18    For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

Only God's power can guarantee eternal life which death cannot touch. Only God's revealing of His Son Jesus and His atoning death can deliver us by Gods supernatural power.

Luke 21:28  For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

1 Cor 15:20 -23   But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.   For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.   For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.  But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

The order of resurrection begins with Jesus followed by believers at the time of His coming. Christ's resurrection--the first fruits of the new covenant--is God's guarantee that His followers will rise too. Being made alive is an accomplishment possible only in Christ. All people are descendants of Adam; thus all people face eternal death. But as Adam ushered in an era of death, Christ ushered in an era of life; and that life is possible only through Christ.
