(Rev 17:7 -
12KJV) And the angel said
unto me, Wherefore didst thou
marvel? I will tell thee the mystery
of the woman, and of the beast that
carrieth her, which hath the seven
heads and ten horns.
(8 ) The
beast that thou sawest was, and is
not; and shall ascend out of the
bottomless pit, and go into
perdition: and they that dwell on
the earth shall wonder, whose names
were not written in the book of life
from the foundation of the world,
when they behold the beast that was,
and is not, and yet is.
(9) And
here is the mind which hath wisdom.
The seven heads are seven mountains,
on which the woman sitteth.
(10) And
there are seven kings: five are
fallen, and one is, and the other is
not yet come; and when he cometh, he
must continue a short space.
(11) And
the beast that was, and is not, even
he is the eighth, and is of the
seven, and goeth into perdition.
(12) And
the ten horns which thou sawest are
ten kings, which have received no
kingdom as yet; but receive power as
kings one hour with the beast.
We will be looking
at this in parts. The scriptures
break this image of the beat into
four main parts. The seven
heads, the beast, the ten horns, and
the great whore.
The Seven heads
Rev 17:9 |
And here is the
mind which hath wisdom.
The seven heads are seven mountains,
on which the
woman sitteth.
|
We will be
looking at the seven mountains in
a figurative and as a literal
sense.
If you take it in a literal sense,
it cud be identified as Rome for
Rome is said to set on seven
hills.
The original city of Rome sat on
seven hills,
(1) |
Palatine |
(5) |
Viminal |
(2) |
Aventine |
(6) |
Quirimal |
(3) |
Caelian |
(7) |
Capitoline |
(4) |
Equiline |
|
|
Later,
the city expanded to include the
hill Janiculum and Pincian.
So Rome sets on 9 hills now.
God is very accurate in his
visions, he is so accurate that
some of Daniel's visions, were
thought to be written after the
fact, by those that don't believe.
We need to remember that All
scripture is given by
inspiration of God, God
is the author not man.
Is God writing
about the end times or 70 Ad?
God referred
to kingdoms as mountains
|
Jer
51:24,25 "As you
watch, I will repay
Babylon and the
people of Babylonia for
all the wrong they have
done to my people in
Jerusalem," says the
LORD. "Look, O mighty
mountain, destroyer of
the earth! I am
your enemy," says the
LORD. "I will raise my
fist against you, to
roll you down from the
heights. When I am
finished, you will be
nothing but a heap of
rubble.
|
|
Zec 4:7
Who art thou, O
great mountain?
before Zerubbabel thou
shalt become a plain: and
he shall bring forth the
headstone thereof with
shoutings, crying, Grace,
grace unto it.
|
The seven heads may
symbolize seven mountains, which are
kingdoms.
The mountains upon which the woman
sitteth cud be, therefore, seven
kingdoms.
A mountain is a common scriptural
images, symbols, or representatives
of a kingdom, dominion, or a empire.
What kingdoms are they
? lets take a
look
|
Rev
13:3 And I
saw one of his
heads as it were wounded
to death; and
his deadly wound
was healed: and
all the world wondered
after the beast.
|
One of the heads
will be wounded and healed, this is
not speaking of the beast him self.
But one of the heads, one of the
kingdom will be wounded.
Rev 17:10 |
And
there are seven kings:
five are fallen,
and one is,
and the other is not
yet come;
and when he
cometh, he must
continue a short
space.
|
The words kings
and kingdoms are sometimes used
interchangeably.
We see there are seven, one for
each head. Five are fallen, five
were in the pass, and one is. The
one that is at that time was Rome,
the sixth empire.
In a figurative
sense
What
five kingdoms, mountains like Rome
had been and gone up to that time?
Before
Rome,
|
(1) |
Greece |
|
(2) |
Medo / Persia |
|
(3)
|
Babylon |
|
(4) |
Assyria |
|
(5) |
Egypt |
|
(6) |
Rome |
In a literal sense
The Caesar of Rome
|
(1) |
Julius
Caesar |
|
(2) |
Augustus |
|
(3)
|
Tiberius
|
|
(4) |
Caligula |
|
(5) |
Claudius |
|
(6) |
Nero |
Flavius Josephus,
the Jewish contemporary of John,
clearly points out that Julius
Caesar was the first emperor of
Rome and that he was followed in
succession by Augustus, Tiberius,
Caius, Claudius, and Nero (Antiquities
18; 19).
Here are six of the
kingdoms; the seventh is not yet
come. When it comes, it is to
endure but a short time.
What is the identity
of the seventh kingdom, the one
that "is not yet come" and when
he comes, he must continue a short
space.
In a figurative
sense
|
(7) |
Germany |
It could have been
Germany under the dictator
Adolf Hitler.
For all these kingdoms had a
special relationship to Israel,
they all oppressed Israel.
In a literal
sense

(7) |
Galba |
Galba, who assumed
power in June, A.D. 68, his reign
lasted six months, until January 15,
A.D. 69.
The Eighth
(Rev 17:8 KJV) The
beast that thou sawest was,
and is not; and shall
ascend out of the bottomless pit,
and go into perdition: and they that
dwell on the earth shall wonder,
whose names were not written in the
book of life from the foundation of
the world, when they behold the
beast that was, and is not, and yet
is.
(Rev 17:11 KJV) And
the beast that was,
and is not, even he
is the eighth, and is of
the seven, and goeth into perdition.
The Eighth was and it is not,
The Eighth
which is not yet come, He was.
This is where the
literal, doesn’t fit for the Eighth
was, that is it was one of the five.
The first five Caesars—Julius,
Augustus, Tiberius, Caligula and
Claudius—had already died
(“fallen”). So if you are saying
that the eighth is Roman Catholic
Church, that would mean that the
pope would have to be the
reincarnation of one of the first
five Ceasars.
(Heb 9:27 KJV) And
as it is appointed unto men once to
die, but after this the judgment:
Rev 17:9 |
And here is the
mind which hath wisdom.
The seven heads are seven mountains,
on which the
woman sitteth.
|
Why is she
setting on the mountains
?
I believe
it is not because she is ruling
over them, but it is to symbolize
that these kingdoms, carried her
in there oppression of her.
The
Beast
Rev 17:8 |
The
beast that thou
sawest was,
and is
not; and shall
ascend out of the bottomless
pit, and go into perdition:
and they that dwell on the
earth shall wonder,
whose names were not written
in the book of life from the
foundation of the world, when
they behold the
beast that was, and is
not, and yet is.
|
|
Rev
13:3 And
I saw one
of his
heads
as it were wounded
to death; and his deadly
wound was healed:
and all
the world wondered after
the beast.
|
Rev 17:10 |
And
there are seven kings:
five are fallen,
and one is,
and the other is not
yet come;
and when he
cometh, he must
continue a short
space.
|
Rev 17:11 |
And the beast that was, and is not, even he is
the eighth,
and is of the seven, and goeth
into perdition.
|
The beast was
and it is not, there for it
can not be Rome, the six head, which
is.
The beast was there for it can
not be the seventh head, which is not
yet come, for he was.
The beast is the eighth kingdom,
or the head hows "deadly
wound
was healed".
The beast kingdom has to be one of
the first five, which are fallen,
for he was.
Kingdom six is and kingdom seven has never yet existed.
The beast kingdom, ruled one of the
first five before John's day.
There are spirit prince's over
kingdoms. The beast kingdom, will be
the spirit prince from one of the
first five kingdoms.
Daniel prayed and fasted for three
weeks, the answer to his prayer was
hindered, by a spirit being.
|
Dan 10:13
NLT But for
twenty-one days the spirit prince
of the kingdom of Persia
blocked my way. Then Michael, one of
the archangels,
came to help me, and I
left him there with the spirit prince
of the kingdom of
Persia.
|
The Ten Horns
Rev 17:12,13 |
And the ten horns
which thou sawest are ten kings,
which have received no
kingdom as yet;
but receive power as kings
one hour with the beast.
These have one
mind, and shall give their power
and strength unto the
beast.
|
The ten horns are
ten kings that have not as yet risen
to power. They will rise to power,
with the beast. They cud be on the
seen before the beast, but they will
not rise to power until they do with
the best.
Rev 17:14 |
These
shall make war with the
Lamb, and the Lamb
shall overcome them: for he
is Lord of lords, and King
of kings: and they that are
with him are called, and
chosen, and faithful.
|
Theses kings will
make war on God, they will persecute
the Jews and Christens, and overcome
them.
|
Rev
13:7
NLT And
the beast was
allowed to wage war
against God's holy people
and to
overcome them. And
he was given authority to
rule over every tribe and
people and language and
nation.
|
|
Rev
12:11 And
they overcame him
by the blood of the Lamb,
and by the word of their
testimony; and they
loved not their lives unto
the death.
|
These ten kings
hate the whore and make her
desolate, and burn her with fire.
Rev 17:16 |
And the ten
horns which thou
sawest upon
the beast, these
shall hate
the whore, and
shall
make her desolate
and naked, and shall eat her
flesh, and burn her with
fire.
|
The
Woman
Rev 17:1 |
And there came
one of the seven angels
which had the seven
vials, and talked with
me, saying unto me, Come
hither; I will show unto
thee the judgment of
the great whore
that sitteth upon
many waters:
|
Harlotry is a
symbol in the Word of God for
perverted worship, idolatry.
Religious systems that give their
hearts to idols or even there
doctrines, to take the place of what
God has revealed. In the Scriptures
this is called whoredom,
adultery.
We read in Jeremiah
3:6, 8, 9
|
And I saw that
when for all the causes
wherein backsliding
Israel committed
adultery I had put her
away, and given her a bill
of divorce, yet the
treacherous Judah, her
sister, feared not, but
went and committed fornication
also.
And it came to
pass through the
lightness£
of her fornication that
she polluted the land,
and committed
adultery with stones and
with stocks.
And Jehovah
said unto me in the
days of Josiah the
king, Hast thou seen
what backsliding
Israel hath done?
She hath gone
up upon every high
mountain and under
every green tree, and
there hath committed
fornication.
|
Rev 17:3 |
So he carried me away
in the spirit into the
wilderness: and
I saw a woman sit
upon a scarlet
coloured beast,
full of names of
blasphemy, having seven heads and
ten horns.
|
Why was he
carried away to the wilderness ?
For the woman
is the church and there city and
the woman fled to the wilderness
to be protected from the dragon
for 3½ years.
|
Rev
12:14 And to the woman
were given two wings
of a great eagle, that
she might fly into the
wilderness,
into her place, where
she is nourished for a
time, and times, and
half a time, from the face
of the serpent.
|
Rev 17:4
|
And
the woman was
arrayed
in purple and
scarlet colour, and decked
with gold and precious
stones and pearls, having a
golden cup in her hand full
of abominations and
filthiness of her
fornication:
|
The great
whore was arrayed,
in fine linen and gold, pearls.
God said in Ezek 16:10,11, 13, 16
|
I
clothed thee also
with broidered work, and
shod thee with badgers'
skin, and I
girded thee about with
fine linen, and I
covered thee with
silk.
I decked thee also with
ornaments, and I
put bracelets upon thy
hands, and a chain on thy
neck. Thus
wast thou decked with gold
and silver; and thy
raiment was of fine
linen, and silk,
and broidered work; thou
didst eat fine flour, and
honey, and oil: and thou
wast exceeding beautiful,
and thou didst prosper into
a kingdom. And of thy
garments thou didst take,
and deckedst thy high
places with divers
colours, and playedst the
harlot thereupon:
the like things shall not
come, neither shall it be
so.
|
So we see that
God clothed Jerusalem (the Jews),
with fine linen and gold, pearls,
but she played the harlot.
Rev 17:5
|
And
upon
her forehead was a name
written, MYSTERY,
BABYLON THE GREAT, THE
MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND
ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
|
The great
whore is the MOTHER
OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS,
she is a prostitute; she is no
longer God’s Jerusalem, the bride,
but she is the apostate church, spiritually
Sodom and Egypt.
|
2
Thessalonians 2:3 (DNT)
Let not any one
deceive you in any manner,
because [it will not be]
unless the
apostasy have first come,
and the man of sin have been
revealed, the son of
perdition;
|
|
Revelation
11:8
And
their dead bodies shall
lie in the street of the
great city, which spiritually is
called Sodom and Egypt,
where also our Lord was
crucified.
|
Mother of
Harlots, This indicates that not
only Jerusalem, but the whole
apostate church, Roman, Greek, and
Protestant, and all parts of
Christendom have become prostitutes.
Jerusalem is the mother, all the
rest are her children.
Rev 17:15 |
And
he saith unto me, The waters
which
thou sawest, where
the whore
sitteth, are
peoples, and multitudes,
and nations, and tongues.
|
She sitteth on
the hole world.
Rev 17:18 |
And
the woman
which thou sawest is that
great city, which
reigneth over the kings of
the earth.
|
The woman is
Jerusalem, the great city
|
Rev 11:8
KJV And
their dead bodies shall lie
in the street of the
great city, which spiritually
is
called
Sodom and Egypt,
where also our Lord was
crucified.
|
|
Rev
11:8 NLT And
their
bodies will lie in the main
street of Jerusalem,
the city which is called "Sodom"
and "Egypt," the
city where their Lord was
crucified.
|
(Rev 17:7
KJV)
And the angel
said
unto me,
Wherefore didst thou
marvel? I will tell thee
the mystery of
the woman, and of the beast
that carrieth her, which
hath the seven heads and
ten horns.
